The 2015 Long Island Bike Challenge (LIBC) will take place on Sunday, August 2. The goal of the Long Island Bike Challenge (LIBC) is to raise money to defeat cancer, melanoma and other serious afflictions. All funds raised by riders participating in the LIBC will be donated to the Feinstein Institute.
To enter the race there is a registration fee of $80 – this provides for your own racing bike shirt, drinks and snacks along the race, breakfast after the race, and a ride back to the starting point. There are three starting points – participants can bike for 100 miles, 62 miles, or 40 miles. The 100-mile ride begins at 6:00 am sharp in the parking lot of the Wantagh LIRR station, the 62-mile ride begins in Medford at 9:15 am and the 40-mile ride begins in Westhampton at 10:30 am. The finish for all three rides is in East Hampton.
Volunteers are needed to work at the water stops in Brentwood, Medford and Westhampton. If you are interested, please contact Edward Diller.
Employees from North Shore-LIJ/Feinstein Institute are not required to raise a minimum. Other riders are required to raise a minimum of $500. Of course there is no maximum. Why is this required? As a cyclist registering for LIBC you are signing up for a fundraising mission, AND a bike ride. The purpose of this event is to find cures to diseases that affect millions of people. These funds enable physicians and scientists, right here on Long Island to pursue innovative research that benefits all of us! As a dedicated event participant you are an integral part of this effort. COMMIT to the ride – COMMIT to raising the money as well! For more information on fundraising, click here.
This ride is open to all cyclists willing to take on the challenge of biking between 40 and 100 miles, and raising money from supporters.
